Senior Tech Connect in San Marcos

Senior Tech Connect, a nonprofit committed to empowering older adults through technology, partnered with SPARC to bring a free five-week smartphone training series designed to help seniors build confidence and independence in the digital age.

Each weekly session offers hands-on instruction, covering essential skills in a supportive and easy-to-follow format. In the first session, participants explored smartphone basics—learning how to navigate their devices, adjust key settings, and stay safe while using Wi-Fi and voicemail. Over the next four weeks, the curriculum will expand on these foundational skills, offering step-by-step guidance to help older adults connect with loved ones, access important resources, and enjoy the benefits of today’s technology with confidence.

Sound the Alarm at Hacienda Valley & Lamplighter Salinas

SPARC partnered with the American Red Cross to bring the Sound the Alarm campaign to two communities, helping residents stay safer in their homes.

At Hacienda Valley, over 30 dedicated volunteers and Red Cross team members came together to visit 42 homes and install 51 smoke alarms, ensuring families are better protected in the event of a fire. A second event at Lamplighter Salinas had an even greater impact, 46 homes were served, and an impressive 142 smoke alarms were installed in just one day.

Thanks to this powerful collaboration, nearly 100 households are now equipped with life-saving devices, reinforcing SPARC and the Red Cross’s shared commitment to safety, preparedness, and community care.

Child Creativity Lab at San Juan Mobile Estates

Child Creativity Lab, a local nonprofit dedicated to enriching children’s education through hands-on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) experiences visited San Juan Mobile Estates.

The event welcomed 30 enthusiastic residents for a family-friendly marble ramp challenge. Each family received a kit filled with recycled and reusable materials, sparking creativity as they designed and built their own custom ramps. The goal? To see whose marble could travel the farthest!

Laughter and excitement filled the room as children and parents raced their marbles, some even holding four extra rounds just for fun. It was a joyful afternoon of learning, teamwork, and imaginative play, all centered around the power of STEAM education.
